About the Role
The Line Packer Lead is responsible knowing how to operate all equipment in the assigned department. Monitor and ensure the departments overall production to adhere to quality, safety and efficiency standards, as well as compliance with good manufacturing practices. Trains packers as required. Trouble shoots operation problems and provides back-up as needed. Is responsible for the packing and visual inspection of finished goods during packaging.
Responsibilities:
Anticipate material requirements from schedule generated by supervisor and order stock from to meet production demands and avoid line stoppage.
Assist in preparing lines for change-overs.
Conduct visual inspection of finished product prior to packaging
Advise line supervisor of on-going quality, i.e. size, color shape and weight discrepancies
Dispose of non-standard products into appropriate waste bins
Remove light weights and irregular products
Check for appropriate code date on wrappers, labels, and cartons
Assist with packaging on other lines as required
Assist with the packing of Variety Packs
Assist with the training of new packers and temps
Complete tasks and projects as required by the company
Must work overtime as needed.
Notify Group Leader of any suspicious personnel or incidents occurring that relate to plant security.
Educate department personnel on proper use of equipment, safety requirements, and product quality standards.
Fill out all paperwork as required.
Perform quality check as outlined in the key checkpoint matrix
Maintain a clean and safe working environment
Maintain a high level of sanitation and GMP’s
Safeguards and maintains company equipment and property, including Personal Protection Equipment (PPE);
Responsible for reporting any food safety concerns or tampering with product
Ensures proper safety training is completed by all new packers.
Attends all company training sessions; and
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Bi-lingual English/Spanish preferred
Strong multi-tasking skills
Food industry experience preferred
Basic math skills
Good oral and written communication skills
Able to meet physical demands in work environment as generally described below
Ability to interpret instructions finished in written or oral form
Education and/or Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or 3-5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
