About the Role

The Line Operator is responsible for all aspects of machine operation and changeover activities to achieve and maintain quality. The primary purpose of this job is to operate machinery and associated equipment with maximum efficiency, while maintaining product quality and following regulatory guidelines for sanitation and safety.

Responsibilities:

  • Must be able to operate machines properly, keep machines running & producing efficiently.

  • Responsible for keeping work area clean and organized.

  • Monitor and check: weigher, metal detectors with correct documentation.

  • Must learn and understand the Lawson system.

  • Responsible to maintain good records including down time.

  • Responsible for correct coding of product.

  • Must understand the mechanics of the packaging equipment.

  • Operate coders, tapers, auto case packers, boxers, carton lines, and horizontal and vertical lines efficiently.

  • Must be able to multitask effectively.

  • Must work overtime as needed.

  • Must be able to run a crew. Supervise packers & labors on lines.

  • Keep area clean, follow GMP's and comply with all safety regulations.

  • Must be able to communicate with Supervisors, co-workers and other departments.

  • Proficient at routine preventative maintenance as well as changeovers.

  • Must be able to use good judgment in the event of the absence of Production supervisor or Production Manager.

  • Safeguards and maintains company equipment and property, including PPE’s;

  • Ensures all areas are kept clean at all times;

  • Attends all company training sessions; and

  • Other duties as assigned.


Requirements:

  • Competency in English

  • Bi-lingual in Spanish preferred

  • Strong multi-tasking skills

  • Food industry experience preferred

  • Basic math skills

  • Good oral and written communication skills

  • Strong computer and troubleshooting skills

  • Work overtime and weekends as needed

  • Excellent attendance and safety record

  • Ability to interpret instructions finished in written or oral form


Education and/or Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or 2-3 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
