About the Role

The production planner is responsible for developing the production plan to satisfy customer demand, while minimizing effective inventory carry. This person will be focused on creating a rolling 6 month production plan, with input from sales forecasts and demand planning. This plan will also include labor / resource and capacity requirement plans. The planner is also responsible for management of inventory levels and optimal safety stocking based on customer demand patterns and service level expectations for all finished goods items.

Responsibilities:

  • Create and maintain a rolling 6 month master production plan, including rolling 4 week plan.

  • Manage all finished goods inventory levels, including cycle counts. Maintenance and setup of safety stocking policy for finished goods based on 100% service level requirement.

  • Perform demand/supply analysis to highlight areas of concern for the next 6 months.

  • Work directly with production and sales teams to ensure Master Production Schedule “MPS” is being met, and to evaluate feasibility of the future plan.

  • Collaboration with sales on a weekly basis to ensure customer ship dates and expectations are in line with current and future MPS.

  • Determine the effect that material availability will have on the plan and recommend actions for improving.

  • Perform ad hoc root cause analysis for any order fill rate below 100%, and define countermeasures for each.

  • Review BOM’s 9 Bill of materials) and ensure rates/ run times / scrap and quantity to use are set properly.

  • Monitor production output vs. the MPS. Identify gaps and drive solutions on how to improve.

  • Other duties as assigned.


Minimum Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of master planning, primarily in the CPG industry.

  • Experience in managing manufacturing processes, productivity and efficiency metrics.

  • Understanding of ERP/MRP software and processes. (ie. SYSPRO, SAP, JDE, Oracle).

  • Proficient in Excel.

  • APICS Certification preferred.

  • Bilingual Spanish is a plus.


Education and/or Experience:

Bachelors in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or economics or 4-5 years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
